Pigment treatment – IPL technology
Pigmented lesions: Liver, age spots and other pigmentation
Pigment spots (above mentioned liver spots) are usually already congenital or they appear later as pigmented malformations on the skin surface. Names like naevi or birthmarks are also common. Freckles and age spots are also common. The colour of the pigment spots can vary greatly (yellowish to dark brown and black) as well as size and texture (not increased to noticeable and hairy).
Pigment spots called nevus (birthmark/liver spot) should not primarily be removed by IPL or laser, as a possibly later necessary assessment, e.g. at a skin cancer screening, can be falsified by remaining or scattered pigment.
HOW DOES THE REMOVAL OF AGE SPOTS OR PIGMENTATION STAINS WITH IPL WORK?
Application of PhotoNova on the surface to be treated
The melanin in the pigment spot absorbs the light rays and generates heat.
The treated areas are repelled by the body – the pigment spot lifts into the uppermost layer of skin.
The mole falls off similar to a scab.
