Hyaluronic Acids andRadiesse® (Filler)
The individual products differ in the size of the gel particles with changes in viscosity and elasticity. Often the products of a company are combined to achieve optimal results.
The particles of the hyaluronic acid gel are dissolved very slowly by the body after the injection. When dismantled, it is replaced by water. The less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water it can absorb. This is one of the main reasons why hyaluronic acid treatments last so long. After complete degradation, the gel is secreted out of the body unnoticed.
Radiesse®
is a synthetic, injectable dermal filler consisting of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres dissolved in a water-based gel carrier. Calcium hydroxyapatite and its components calcium and phosphate occur naturally in human tissue. Radiesse® is more than just a wrinkle filler, Radiesse® stimulates the body’s own collagen production, which leads to very good results, but can also cause swelling and redness to persist for several days after injection.
Wrinkle treatment using fillers
In order to achieve optimal and natural results with as few side effects as possible during wrinkle treatment, it is very important to be highly experienced and to use high-quality, and as such potentially more expensive, products.
To give a face youthful freshness is an art that requires a subtle understanding of aesthetics. The face should not look unnatural, exaggerated (“made”). The wrinkle treatment of static wrinkles works very well with so-called fillers. These are mostly hyaluronic acid preparations that have an immediate lifting effect. After injection, there is sometimes a short-term redness and short-lasting swelling in the treated area. The end result – which lasts for about 9 months (with high-quality fillers up to 2 years) – only becomes apparent after a few days, when the reactions at the puncture sites have subsided again. A wrinkle treatment with fillers is not without risks. You will be comprehensively informed by the attending physician about wrinkle treatment and the realistic, expected result. The treatment can sometimes lead to vascular injuries with small to larger bruises in the treated area.
The treatment with fillers leads to an instant result, which will improve over the following weeks. A pre-test of the skin is not necessary, the intervention takes about 30 minutes. The injection is a bit uncomfortable, but not very painful, as most preparations already contain a local anesthetic. Treatment usually does not require pain relief, but local anesthesia can be performed at any location using a special cream if desired. When modeling lips, this makes sense from the outset.
After the injection, certain treatment-related reactions such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration, and sensitivity may occur at the treatment site. Such reactions usually disappear by themselves after 1-2 days. A common side effect of an injection may be vascular injury with hematoma (bruises) or infection (rare). Side effects like granulomas, art. Embolisms with skin necrosis are possible, but very rare, visual disturbances that can lead to blindness are rarities. It is therefore very important to choose a practitioner who has anatomical knowledge and sufficient training or experience and also knows how to treat such problems. Allergic reactions may occur to the attached local anesthetic. Only in one out of 2,000 treated patients have allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid been detected, consisting of swelling in the treatment area. Also very rarely, redness, hypersensitivity of the skin and even more rarely acne-like skin irregularities can occur. These reactions are immunological and can be seen with a delay of 2-4 weeks. After 2 weeks, they almost always sound of their own accord.
The effect of hyaluronic acid is long-lasting (up to 2 years), but not permanent. How long the result of a treatment lasts is very individual and depends on many factors such as age, skin type, lifestyle (nicotine?) and muscle activity. Of course, the experience of the doctor plays a crucial role in the outcome.
Most patients decide to have a refresher 6-12 months after the first wrinkle or facial correction. If the lips are treated, a touch-up is usually necessary after 4-6 months. The injections with hyaluronic acid can be repeated as often as desired. Hyaluronic acid is often used in combination with botulinum. As a result, the durability of the result is considerably longer, and it is not uncommon for follow-up treatments to be necessary after 1-2 years.
Highly volumizing hyaluronic acids (e.g., Juvederm voluma) and Radiesse® are mainly used to treat deep wrinkles – such as nasolabial, corner of the mouth or chin wrinkles. They can also restore cheek volume, which was naturally lost in the midface, for example, due to a loss of fatty tissue under the skin. An irregular chin line and a drooping jaw can also be restored. These fillers are therefore ideally suited for patients who do not want a face lift. Without the risks of a stressful operation, the deep drawing of the wrinkles is reduced. Due to the filled volume, your skin on the cheeks appears significantly firmer and the face fresher and more youthful. Radiesse® and hyaluronic acids are also used to treat laterally lowered eyebrows, sunken scars and sunken backs of the hands.
